Lucinda was young and capable. She would be able to earn a living anywhere without a problem. Yet, she turned out to be this way because of me. I watched my aunt crying and lowered my head.
‘It’s my fault.’
My aunt, who saw my body curled up, gently picked me up. Her tears started to dampen my shoulders. Then, she patted me and said,
“I’m sorry to startle you. I’m fine.”
‘In fact, she’s not okay. Poor Lucinda.’
As a one-year-old baby, I was incapable of helping her. That’s why we couldn’t get out of this misery.
